About The Festival
The Jerusalem Writers Festival
The Ninth International Writers Festival in Jerusalem will be held this year in an unusual hybrid format. Alongside digital encounters with international authors, we are thrilled to be able to hold in-person events once again at Mishkenot Sha'ananim, one of the most magical and beautiful places in the country. Despite the challenging year in the world of literature, we have not given up and have created for you a rich and surprising program with the best writers from Israel and around the world. Many of the new books written by the international participants will be published in Israel ahead of the Writers Festival, and it is reassuring to know that even in times of trouble, literature, as always, inspires us to overcome difficulties and continues to move and excite us.
We are proud to report that this year the Jerusalem Writers Festival has joined Word Alliance, an organization that brings together the most important and interesting literature festivals in the world today and creates an extensive network of communities in the global literary scene.
We invite you to join us for four days of “forbidden” picnics, literature and music performances, literary tours, unique workshops, an original podcast project, unconventional exhibitions and encounters, and, of course, conversations with writers from Israel and around the world.
The international authors taking part in the Writers Festival this year are:
Salman Rushdie (UK/USA), Jonathan Safran Foer (USA), Vanessa Springora (France), Harlan Coben (USA), Avni Doshi (USA/Dubai), Emmanuel Moses (France), Domenico Starnone (Italy), and Linn Ullman (Norway).
