I Blossomed in a Stone House: A Tour in the Footsteps of the Poet Zelda with Tafat Hacohen-Bick and Amichai Chasson

Wednesday 18.5
18:00-19:30
The meeting point will be sent to those who register

In the last decade of her life, Zelda moved into a small apartment on the border between the Shaare Chesed and Rehavia neighborhoods in Jerusalem. She was still standing “in Jerusalem, Jerusalem suspended from a cloud,” but withdrew, frightened of the bustling city and leaving the house infrequently. Nonetheless, the writing head and hand continued to sail into the distance.

The tour will set out from the poet’s house and follow the sounds, trees, stones, and people who made up her life and poetry. Literary scholar Tafat Hacohen-Bick and poet and filmmaker Amichai Chasson will consider together how Zelda wrote the Jerusalem space and the gap between image and reality, and how “beauty is [always] stuck like a knife in the heart.”
