Supported by the Culture and Community Innovation Foundation

Monday 16.5
19:30-20:30
Yael Garden, Mishkenot Sha'ananim Cultural Center

In her novel, Volunteer (2021), author and illustrator Netalie Gvirtz (Israel) embarks on a journey full of confrontations that follows Mira, the protagonist of the story, who is sent by her mother to carry out an unconventional mission on the kibbutz where the mother volunteered in her youth.

The first prose book by poet and translator Rita Kogan (Israel), Stone Land (2021), tells the story of a girl who left St. Petersburg with her mother and immigrated to Israel, and follows her adolescence through eleven short stories and novellas.

The authors will speak with scholar Dr. Jeremy Fogel about Israel’s obsession with finding roots and the daily experience of foreignness in literature and life.
