Something Disguised as Love: Galia Oz in Conversation with Yael Gover

Thursday 19.5
18:00-19:00
Djanogly Hall, Mishkenot Sha'ananim Cultural Center

In 2021, Galia Oz (Israel), writer, screenwriter, and author of the best-selling and award-winning children’s book series Shakshuka, published the memoir Something Disguised as Love. The book describes her childhood years on the kibbutz and in particular her complex and charged relationship with her parents, Amos and Nili Oz. Her book shocked the literary world and threatened to topple one of the pillars of Israeli culture, her father, canonical author Amos Oz. Galia Oz defines her book as “a pocket guide to survivors of abuse” written for “anyone who is willing to look directly into the shadows of human life and the reality in which the home is not always a safe place.”

Oz will talk with her editor, Yael Gover, about the connection between writing and memory and the power of literature to heal the soul.
