Aravrit | Calligraphy Workshop with Liron Lavi Turkenich
Liron Lavie Turkienicz is a typographer and type designer who gained international attention for creating “Aravrit” — a unique writing system that merges Hebrew and Arabic into a single script readable in both languages.
Turkienicz will share the story of the creation of the Aravrit typeface, the role of Haifa as a source of inspiration, and the surprising places the project has reached—including her TED Talk and the monumental sculpture displayed at Expo Dubai bearing the words “To the Future.”
At the end of the lecture, participants will be invited to experiment with writing Aravrit letters themselves and to create a silk-screen print with a word of their choice. Please bring a fabric bag
or T-shirt from home. Limited places available—early registration recommended.
