A special premiere performance at the International Writers Festival

A cheeky, audience-participation theatrical performance featuring tales of horror and tall stories from the days of the Palmach, told around an imaginary campfire—the quintessential tribal bonfire, which is us as we might have been, and as we may never become.

The show weaves together classics like “The Bag of Lies” (Yalkut HaKzavim) by Haim Hefer and Dan Ben-Amotz with contemporary stories of heroism—and not-so-heroism—exploring questions such as: what connects the youth of the Palmach with today’s hilltop youth? What links campfire tall tales with fake news on social media? And what is this bonfire the tribe gathers around—a source of warmth and solidarity, or a pile of forbidden books like those burned in Berlin in 1933?

A performance that is funny, biting, and sentimental all at once, produced by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit social media department and hosted by Sgt. Jenny Abergil and Cpl. Jana

Rozbovin—“Girls in the Watchtower.”

Performers: Nadav Bossem and Adili Liberman
