The Teacher | Alon Arad in conversation with Yuval Mendelson

Alon Arad is a writer, poet, and educator. His book “The Teacher” (Keter Publishing), a satire on the Israeli education system, is based, among other things, on his experiences as a high school teacher. Shortly after its publication, “The Teacher” received critical acclaim. The newspaper Haaretz described the book as “a sharp and biting satire that serves as an indictment of a corrupt and rotten system.” The book was included on the shortlist for the Sapir Prize for 2025.

Arad will speak with Yuval Mendelson, lead singer of the bands “Shigetz” and “The Journey to Poland,” and a high school teacher, about the status of teachers in Israel today and the connection between creative work and teaching.
