“ Next Stop” (Hakibbutz Hameuchad), Benjamin Resnick’s debut novel, is a speculative work set in an unnamed American city about twenty years after the COVID pandemic. Israel has been swallowed by a black hole in an event known as “The Event,” diaspora Jews are once again confined to urban ghettos, and a young Jewish couple struggles to protect their child from both a surveillance state and armed gangs roaming the streets.

Resnick will speak with educator and rabbi Mishael Zion—co-founder of the Klausner Community, an egalitarian halakhic minyan in Jerusalem, and a faculty member at the Mandel Program for Leadership in Jewish Culture—about the need to tell a Jewish story in the present moment, specifically through what Resnick defines as a “Jewish apocalypse.”
