Tomorrow Is Almost Here: Mikołaj Łoziński (Poland) in Conversation with Shiri Lev-Ari
The event will be held in English
Mikołaj Łoziński is a Polish novelist, essayist, and screenwriter whose work has received numerous literary honors, including the Paszport Polityki Prize for short fiction. Met with international acclaim, his latest novel, Stramer (Carmel, 2024, translated by Rina Bodankin), follows Nathan Stramer, who returns from the United States to his hometown of Tarnów – an industrial town in southern Poland, once home to a large Jewish population. What begins as an intimate portrait of family life and fatherhood gradually gives way to the violent course of history – one that does not spare Nathan and his loved ones, forcing them from their rural home to the Tarnów Ghetto and the unfolding horrors of the Holocaust.
Łoziński will speak with journalist, editor, and literary critic Shiri Lev-Ari about culture, literature, and the way history throws our lives into disarray.
This event is part of a collaboration to promote contemporary European literature between the European Union and the International Writers Festival at Mishkenot Sha'ananim.
