Singing Lessons : Dorit Rabinyan in Conversation with Dr. Roni Halpern
Dorit Rabinyan is among the nation’s most prominent and celebrated authors, both in Israel and abroad. Her novel All the Rivers (“Gader Haya,” Am Oved, 2014), a complex love story set against the backdrop of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, won the Bernstein Prize and sparked a public uproar when the Ministry of Education controversially excluded it from the advanced literature curriculum.
In her new novel, Singing Lessons (Am Oved, 2014), Rabinyan turns inward, to the deepest core of the family unit, tracing the anxiety of transgression embedded within it: how deeply is one allowed to love a family member – and when does love itself become a forbidden feeling?
Rabinyan will discuss her book with literary and gender scholar Dr. Roni Halpern.
