The Homecoming: Talmud 101 with Chaya Gilboa

The Homecoming: Talmud 101 with Chaya Gilboa

Thursday 30.5
20:00-21:45
Fostell Hall

Gilboa’s session offers a deep dive into a series of stories from the Babylonian Talmud “Ketubot” tractate, centered around the universal existential question: What happens when one returns home from a long journey? We will explore Talmudic passages and their intersections with Homer’s epic “The Odyssey” and Kafka’s “The Homecoming.”

Designed for both newcomers to Talmud studies and seasoned learners, this workshop is primarily aimed at anyone who always – and especially these days – finds themselves asking, ‘How does one return home?’

Chaya Gilboa, a lecturer and teacher of Talmud and gender studies across various platforms, is currently pursuing her PhD in cultural studies at the Hebrew University. She also presents on channel Kan 11 with a segment on the literature program, ‘Under Cover,’ where she brings a Talmudic issue relevant to contemporary reality each week.
