Panel Discussion: Israel’s Global Standing – Literature, Politics, and Post-October 7 Israeli-German Relations
Session conducted in English
Since the October 7 massacre, Israel has been engaged on multiple fronts, including a battle over its international portrayal and the pursuit of journalistic integrity. In this vital discussion, journalist Dor Glick will talk to Steffen Seibert, German Ambassador to Israel and former journalist and government spokesperson, Sophie von der Tann, ARD public broadcasting journalist covering Israel and the Palestinian territories, and Mirna Funk, renowned writer and journalist for “Die Welt.” The panel will explore the critical roles of culture and journalism in wartime and their potential to alter realities, as well as the impacts of the sanctions and boycotts imposed on Israel subsequent to and throughout the Gaza war.
This event is part of a three-session series titled “The Impact of War, At Home and Abroad,” held in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Israel and designed to address the challenges in Israel’s relations with the global community in the wake of October 7 and the war against Hamas.
