Opening of the "Ghost Trees" Exhibition

Monday 8.5
17:30 - 19:00
DJANOGLY HALL, MISHKENOT SHA'ANANIM CULTURAL CENTER

The Doron Sabag Art Collection, ORS Ltd, Tel Aviv

The “Ghost Trees” exhibition focuses on the olive tree as an image with myriad meanings in the local context. The four artworks displayed in the exhibition - the work of Samah Shehadeh, Ori Gersht, Tal Shochat and Amon Yariv – were selected from the Doron Sabag Art Collection, ORS Ltd. Their display side by side seeks to shine a spotlight on the common preoccupation with a familiar symbol of the local landscape, while also showcasing the unique artistic style and the personal, inner, poetic world of each artist.

Each artwork is based on set of stylistic contrasts, ranging from the natural to the artificial, from still life to fantasy, from staged photography and the use of technology to freehand drawing. These contrasts, together with the absence of any human image or its removal from the center of being, create a mythical-fantastical atmosphere that emphasizes the long life of the olive tree compared to human life and the timeless nature of artwork.

At the opening of the exhibition, the curator Dana Golan Miller will talk to the artist Tal Shochat and art collector Doron Sabag at the gallery.
